Model To Slim

In NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) Modeling is like walking down the catwalk of the mind of the person who displays the results you want to get.

Imagine that you admired your best friend's body shape and wanted to look like them. If you were out for lunch with them and they had a tuna salad, and you chose to have a tuna salad too, what would happen is that you'd probably get the results that eating a tuna salad tends to cause. So, you'd probably feel healthy, light and happy with yourself for having made a good decision and followed through.

However, if all you did is copy what you friend does when you are with them, that does not guarantee that you would get to look anything like them.

It would be useful to model what they do the rest of the time too. Not just outwardly, but inside their mind.

Your behavior is determined by certain seemingly obvious strategies; things that are so ingrained in your subconscious that have become automatic habits. These are determined by your own personal beliefs about yourself and the world, certain mind strategies and emotions.

Think about brushing your teeth. If I asked you how do you know it's time to brush your teeth, or what's the first thing you do, and the next thing, and the last thing... you'd probably think I am crazy.

However, if you have pearly white teeth and you tell me it's because you brush them three times a day, I'm gonna want to know your strategy for pearly white teeth: What do you brush them with, when do you brush them, why do you brush them, how do you make sure you brush them all the time, what happens if you miss a brush?

Does this make sense?

This process allows you to look at yourself and the world through someone else's lenses, and slip into someone else's shoes. And it can help you get what you want faster and more effortlessly than if you were to just copy or guess what someone else does.

Some magazines publish the diets and exercise programs of celebrities. Accompanied by an airbrushed photo of the celebrity looking amazing in their bikini, this can have a huge impact on easily impressionable readers.

It's easy to think that if you eat exactly that and follow that exact exercise routine, then you'll get to look like that.

However, if it was that simple, we would all look like models, right?

This is why when it comes to modeling someone whose shape, size or fitness abilities you admire, you want to make sure it's someone who is worth modeling and something that is worth modeling too.

And that you do this knowing that you are unique and therefore you are working towards becoming a better version of yourself, not someone else.

So, when you get the chance to talk to someone you want to model, use these questions to elicit some of the strategies that will allow you to get what you want more quickly.

1/ Why do you do what you do?

For example, some people eat healthy and exercise because they want feel great and look slim. Others do it because they don't want to feel bad or look fat and unhealthy. Their motivation strategy might be different to yours.

2/ What has to be present when you do that?

People who enjoy exercising and who push themselves are running certain movies in their minds that crank up certain emotions, such as determination, motivation, energy, strength, playfulness... it's easier to do what you need to do when you are in the right mindset. How do they get into this mindset? What do they do first, and then... and lastly?

3/ What do you do when things don't go according to plan?

Do they have a back up plan, do they improvise, do they tell themselves "to hell with it" and do it anyway?

Modeling is not about copying, is about eliciting certain strategies that can be useful for you to start to practice them too and notice what happens!

And there is certainly no need to resort to dangerous means in the bid to achieve fat loss. The key is to search for a plan that is safe and ultimately provides the desired results.

Most people who are bent on losing their unwanted weight search for programs that would enable them to lose the first few pounds of fat "quickly and easily". The question is "Is this possible?"

The answer is, "It is". The hardest part is committing to a plan that involves changes in your diet. Let's face it, all of us are guilty of being a die-hard fan of certain foods which may taste good but adds nothing to our overall nutritional value.

The following tips may present as drastic changes in your daily diet initially but once you commit yourself to upholding this plan, there would be no turning back. Why?

Because not only will you start to lose those excess fat, you would realize the immense improvement in your health and general well-being. So don't procrastinate, include these three steps in your daily diet:

1. Avoid soda, coffee or tea. Water is recommended!

Well, you can easily avoid sodas. But weaning yourself off coffee does come with some withdrawal symptoms - like headaches. To avoid this, try taking one small cup of black organic coffee. We don't want to see you yelling at others for no apparent reason, just because you are deprived of that cuppa!

2. Avoid whites in bread, pasta, crackers, cereals, flour-based products, potatoes, rice, pasteurized dairy and cheese. However, you need not avoid foods like cauliflower, chicken, turkey or fish.

3. Avoid taking anything with wheat. So the next time you go grocery shopping, make sure you read the products' ingredients list.

These are the three initial steps you can take to lose weight. It can be understandably hard to start - but so with any other new ventures in life, right?

However, once you start and get this easy weight loss plan in your daily routine, you would be glad you did!

Healthy weight loss never upholds so-called 'celebrity secrets' for we all know that very few of those secrets are good for long-term practice.

We appreciate your time dropping by this article and we hope that after you have read it, you will carry with you some useful tips and knowledge about Healthy living.

Step one:

Position yourself for Success. True success starts in the mind. What you think of will eventually translate into actions. You cannot expect weight loss if in your mind you are beating yourself up with negative thoughts like 'I just can't do it', 'maybe I'm destined to be fat forever' or 'eventually my old habits will creep back' unconsciously you are setting yourself up for failure.

That is not how you fight bad eating habits, so think of winning thoughts, be kind with yourself and feel good about the body you have right now yet accept that you needed some modification to excel your potentials furthermore.

Patience is a Virtue. We always tell our precious clients that if you want a long-term lifestyle shift, you have to practice enormous amount of patience. Bad habits are not developed overnight and that is why it is impossible to get rid of them instantly. What you can do is too appreciate every small achievements you made, a simple walk in the park can go a long a way.

Healthy living is a never-ending journey, once you have reached your ideal weight it does not end there, it goes on and on and on. So do not be so hard on yourself if it is taking you so long to lose at least a pound each week, as long as you are losing weight and you enjoy what you are doing, that is still consider as healthy diet.

Step two:

Never deprive yourself with so-called 'sinful foods'. Certainly there is no sinful foods but there is overindulging. The key is moderation. Certainly, a spoon full of ice cream will not make you fat but if you overindulge, there the problem starts. A little bit of this and that in some days of the week will certainly keep you happy and prevent you from craving and constantly thinking of those pleasure foods.

Step three:

Remember that it is how you eat that matters. Although type of food matters how you eat them might just be the key in keeping a happy relationship with food and with yourself. Food are not enemy, they are actually essential of life, if we enjoy the company of food and we appreciate what it can bring to our overall wellness therefore we will learn to appreciate every bursting flavors it can give to our sense of taste, making us eat slowly and chew thoroughly.

Never skip breakfast. I cannot help myself but hate 'so-called experts' that promote skipping breakfast. Let me emphasis this for the last time 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day'. You cannot practice healthy lifestyle and expect to lose weight if you do not value the importance of breakfast, besides; there are countless experts and research findings, which say the same value and importance of breakfast. Breakfast gives you the starting energy that you needed for the whole day of work and eating in the morning gives the body enough time to burn more calories.

Step four:

Add some splash of colors in your plate. A healthy person must have healthy plate, and for us, we identify healthy plate if it resembles the colors of the rainbow. Your plate must contain green stuff for calcium, magnesium, iron etc. it must also includes yellow, orange and purple fruits and vegetables for sweetness that will decrease your cravings for refined and process sweets. Add variety of fruits and vegetable for some good old fiber and vitamins.

Step five:

Who said you should avoid carbohydrates. We actually encourage our clients to add significant amount of healthy carbohydrate in their diet especially if they are choosing a heavy workout sessions. Healthy carbohydrates contain whole grains for long-lasting energy, beans, fruits and vegetables. And oh, never forget to have some healthy lean protein and healthy fats in your diet, some major sources of both are fish, peanuts and soy products.

Diet For Teenagers - Why Parents Should Worry

No Quick Fix

To begin any diet for teenagers, they must realize that there is no magic bullet that will solve their weight problem. There are some methods that will have them losing weight quickly, but establishing healthy long term lifestyle habits is the only way to ensure the weight stays off.

As a parent you should communicate with your teenager and let them know that you'll be there to support them along the way, because the process could take weeks or months. Avoiding fad dieting, diet pills, and gimmicks while setting new habits will increase their chances of success.

Emotional Hazards

Overweight teens are subjected to media that represent overweight people in a negative light constantly. Television and movies often use overweight people as targets for the brunt of their jokes and gags. At school your teenager may be bullied or called names for their appearance as well, causing them anxiety, depression, and feelings of shame or guilt.

All of these feelings can create a cycle where your teenager may eat to repress their feelings in an attempt to find some form of safety. It may be done unconsciously, and if they have another way to express themselves and find security it may help them release the frustration. Be emotionally supportive while they work towards their goal of losing weight.

Physical Dangers

In addition to the possibility of being bullied or harassed by fellow students, their own bodies could become a danger to them if ignored. Arthritis, asthma, sleep apnea, and gallstones are a few of the short term risks of obesity. Bone deformations in the legs can occur if your teenager is extremely overweight, because the leg bones are still developing and may be strained to contort unnaturally by excess weight.

The long term risks are even more concerning. Diabetes, heart disease, and stroke are known to be linked to obesity and unhealthy eating habits. With only a few changes in diet and exercise you can help your teenager lose weight and not worry about the long term health risks of obesity.

Decision

Help your teenager come to make their own decision to lose weight. You can support them, but the responsibility is ultimately theirs. You can help them by being an example of healthy eating and exercise habits. By doing something you're showing them you care and giving them examples of what they can do to make a difference in their own lives.

Don't underestimate the power of leading by example, because teens are looking for role models regardless of their need for independence. They will still be looking to you for support.
